Using AI for more of what matters and less of what doesn’t
AI undoubtedly helps us to do more—to produce more, in less time, with less effort. But one major risk is that AI will increase the burden of thin productivity: the expectation to do a bunch of stuff that doesn’t really matter. After all, email didn’t alleviate the burden of writing letters by hand; it just made us constantly on the hook to send and receive messages. In this talk, I look at how the concept of avidity can help us make sense about which tasks should be replaced by AI—and which shouldn't.
